I learned some serious discipline after being diagnosed with Celiac disease in the 4th grade during the age of bounce house birthday parties with pizza and cake. Nate's mom didn't quite understand what gluten was in 2007. I don't blame her. This and my parent's divorce shaped me into a pretty independent person. But I've found solace in forging my own path. These events that I used to view as negatives in my life have greatly shaped me into who I am today.
I pursued my bachelor's degree in Computer Science from Arizona State University. During my third year of undergrad, my professor and mentor pushed me to apply to the accelerated master's program at ASU. By May of 2020, within five years at university, I graduated summa cum laude and earned both my bachelor's and master's degrees in Computer Science.
Three weeks after I graduated and during the middle of a global pandemic, I was blessed to begin my first full-time job at Starbucks as an information security engineer.
Starting in 2018, I matured the Starbucks vulnerability management program into a self-service model for technology partners to assess and remediate their exploitable infrastructure. I also managed our Cybersecurity Asset Management solution, Axonius, and our SOAR platform for our security operations center.
In 2022, I decided to leave Starbucks to join the company that built the product I administered every day - Axonius. I now assist customers and prospects with implementing their advanced use cases with Axonius.
2020 was a year of self-reflection and betterment. I embraced social distancing to create and learn new skills. Programming will always be a passion, but I enjoy woodworking, playing chess, and slacklining. Some of my favorite recent reads include Dark Matter and Educated or any of Malcom Gladwell's work.
I'm still figuring that out. Regardless, now that you're here, I encourage you to take a few minutes to explore and take a break from the information-dense interwebs and social media that got you here. You deserve it :)
